The real estate agency Bcn Advisors has brokered and sold one of the most expensive properties in Spain in 2021, according to the ranking published by the economic newspaper ‘Expansión’.

Bcn Advisors, a real estate agency specialising in the luxury sector and the most ‘prime’ areas of Barcelona, has sold one of the most expensive properties in Spain in 2021. This is according to the ranking prepared by the prestigious financial newspaper Expansión. In addition, the property is the most expensive in the city of Barcelona that appears in this ranking, with a value of 2.3 million euros (€7,300 per square metre).

In a year 2021 marked by recovery after a year 2020 in which the Covid-19 pandemic slowed down the real estate market and the presence of foreign clients in Barcelona, the situation is normalising. “Interest rates remain at historically low levels, making this the ideal time to buy or sell a property in Barcelona,” says Francisco Nathurmal. “From a long-term investment perspective, Barcelona will continue to be one of the most attractive cities in Europe to buy property,” he adds.

The sold luxury property

The property that has made the list of the most expensive homes sold in Spain in 2021 is a majestic 223 sqm interior property with a 184 sqm terrace. It’s located in the so-called “Quadrat d’Or” (“Golden Square”), the most privileged area of the Eixample that concentrates a large part of the modernist buildings in Barcelona. Here we can admire many architectural gems, with illustrious names such as Antoni Gaudí, Domènech i Muntaner and Puig i Cadafalch, among others.

The apartment has precious original elements from its period, such as the Nolla mosaic floors and the mouldings on its high ceilings, which are combined with the exclusive refurbishment carried out in its interior. It’s located in a listed building from the beginning of the 20th century and has a large living room with direct access to the terrace, 3 en-suite bedrooms, an office and a medium sized room.
